Terms of use
Short, plain-language terms for the Atto DIY kit. Not a substitute for legal advice about your own filings.
What you buy
A one-time digital product: the Mac and Windows desktop kits (DMG / signed Windows installer + Setup guide; engine bundled in the app), an optional Linux CLI and an invite-only Linux desktop beta, a machine license.json after Stripe checkout (required to unlock app features), and — for buyers only — an optional MCP/CLI Python wheel from the claim page. Public kit files on youratto.com/kit are installers only (Safe Browsing design). The paid license.json and optional wheel come only from the claim page on license.youratto.com after Stripe — the wheel is not an open public kit file.
Proprietary software · personal license
Atto (software, documentation, kit files, binaries, and related materials) is proprietary copyrighted software. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Subject to these terms and payment where required, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to install and use Atto for your own research and organizing work on machines you control. This is a license to use the product — not a sale of the underlying IP, source, or redistribution rights.
No redistribution
You may not redistribute, publish, resell, sublicense, or share the kit, source code, binaries, installers, Python wheel, or other product files (or substantial copies of them) with third parties, whether free or paid. Public hosting of installers for browser trust does not authorize copying or re-hosting those files elsewhere.
No reverse engineering to compete
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble Atto in order to build a competing product or to strip and rebrand the kit. (This does not limit your rights under applicable law that cannot be waived, or your right to use your own vault data.)
License required — not a public-domain grant
Without a license, Atto's app features stay locked. Your vault folder is always ordinary files on your disk — never encrypted, never held hostage. That paid personal license is not permission to treat Atto as open source, public domain, or freely redistributable software. Your family documents stay on your machine; the license gates the product, not a cloud copy of your tree.
No refunds
No refunds. Atto is a digital download. Once the kit or license claim is available to you, the sale is final — on Stripe (subject to any platform-required exception the storefront enforces).
EU / UK consumers
By completing checkout you request immediate delivery of digital content (license claim + kit download instructions) and acknowledge that you lose the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal once that content is available, to the extent permitted by applicable law. This pairs with the no-refunds policy above.
Platform compatibility
The Mac kit requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1–M4, macOS 13+ recommended); the Windows kit runs on x64 Windows 10/11 and is Authenticode-signed via Azure Artifact Signing (publisher: Claudio Barone). Purchases on unsupported hardware (including older Intel Macs), or purchases made expecting a Microsoft Store / fully reputation-established retail installer, are not refundable for compatibility reasons. SmartScreen may still warn once for a new publisher while reputation builds; that is expected and is not a refund reason. Verify platform requirements on the site and FAQ before checkout.
Not legal advice · no government endorsement
Atto does not decide eligibility, file applications, book consulate appointments, or scrape archives. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government. You are responsible for your own research, filings, and counsel.
Platforms
Desktop kits: Mac (Apple Silicon, Apple-notarized — Intel Macs not supported) and Windows (x64, NSIS installer as a zip on youratto.com/kit/v0.1.0/windows/, Authenticode-signed via Azure Artifact Signing). Linux: x86_64 CLI plus desktop beta (.deb / AppImage, unsigned, invite-only).
